Inaya sat in the circle patiently, but inside was wanting to simply dig in real bad. She hadn't eaten an actual meal in a few days.
ok, pleeeaassseee... hurry! ... i'm starving!
Inaya leaned farward a bit in her anxiousness. She heard what Nootau said and laughed inside a little. It was true.. everything tasted better still live.

Kanti listened to Snowcap's words carefully as they sat around their kill and she had decided that he was a very wise wolf, perfect as leader of this pack. Then the question of who ate when arose. Obviously being alpha, Snowcap would have the priority of eating first, then Nootau before Anthoro. But the females had yet to sort our their pecking order. Kanti looked at Inaya, then at back at Tsuki.
The she wolf licked her lips as she turned back to the moose. Her tail was wagging and the smell of blood made her stomache lurch. Hunger got the better of her, even if she was snapped at, she wanted to eat With out another thought, she boldly took a step forward.

Tsuki watched as Snowcap took a chunk out of the moose and she decided to join him. She stood next to him and took a chunk of meat off the moose. She had helped to bring this moose down too. Surely she is entitled to eat next to the alpha.

Snowcap murred happily as the warm, juicy meat slid down his throat and into his growling stomach. It calmed his nerves and gave him warmth, strengthening him for the next hunt. Before he took the first bite, he made sure the moose was dead. He would have hated to eat the animal alive.
Snowcap acknowledged Tsuki's presence and nodded politely, though his tail crept upwards a few inches by instinct. He let her eat beside him, but wondered where the others were. He turned to his packmates and barked, beckoning them forward to the fresh kill. They must eat as well. This moose would surely last them two days, if not more. They would feast to their stomach's content, celebrating their new pack.
As Snowcap dug into the moose's chest cavity, he fell into a state of deep thought. He wondered how his path would change now that he had a pack.

Nootau instantly reaches in to gnaw at the wonderfully chewy dewlap dangling from the moose' throat. He notices that Snowcap isn't as instinctive as the rest of them. He was different. Was he raised by dogs? Or raised by a family that lived close to dogs? He seemed so.. calm! How outlandish.. how just fine with Nootau. He thinks none more of it and stretches out the dewlap in his teeth, growling happily as he tore at the skin.

Inaya saw the others dig in and hungrily walked up and tore into the moose's bloody inards herself. Finally, a good meal! The meat ran warm down her throat, satisfying her empty stomach. She yipped happily.

Kanti too had began chewing at the kill and ate happily. She kept her tail up as she ate, occasionally taking glances at her pack mates. Having not eaten for days like some of the others, the fresh meat was very welcoming and she was glad to have worked as a hunting team again.

Having eaten as much as his stomach would hold for the moment, Nootau looks to his leader. "Shall we rest? I think we all deserve it." He sits to scratch at his wind-tickled ear, and sighs casually.

Snowcap had eaten his fill of the rib interior. All that was left was the moose's giant heart. Snowcap refused to harm it, and would absolutely not let any of his wolves eat it. For him, it was the ultimate disrespect for the animal. He took the heart by the aorta in his teeth, gently pulling it from the moose's body. Snowcap took it to a nearby elm, and set it aside while he dug a deep hole surrounded by roots. The white wolf lowered the heart into the pit, then filled it again with dirt. He patted the spot with his paws, then returned to the kill.
"Yes Nootau," he answered, "We will rest. I would like this moose to last us at least two more days, but if we have the desire we may leave him for the coyotes and ravens."
Snowcap lay in a mossy area surrounded by ferns. He lay his large head on his paws. The white stomach was moving up and down heavily, partly for breathing and partly for the digestive system on overload. Snowcap's white fur was stained with blood. It capped his maw and blazed his neck, running all the way down his forelegs. In time the coat would shed and grow pure white again, but for this season it would remain a lightish, ruddy color.

Tsuki had eaten her fill and looked around. She noticed Snowcap sitting some way off. She liked this alpha. She padded over to him, ears kept low and tail held slightly low. She licked his muzzle in a friendly gesture and lay down next to him.
"May i join you? Your not like the other wolves. You seem different although your coat is the same as mine."

Anthoro finished his fill, and wandered into the shade to rest. He lied down, looking around at all the wolves. Again, the feeling of safety came over him, and he laid his head on his paws, eyes still wandering about. He thought about what that would do after they rested with exitement.

Snowcap nuzzled Tsuki slightly before nodding his head, letting her lay beside him.
"Yes," he said, "I have realized that the customs here are not the same as my own. I will try to learn your ways as quick as possible, for a leader must agree with the ideals of his subjects." The corners of his mouth twitched up a bit. He thought of the way Nootau eyed him when he buried the heart. Perhaps he should consult his Beta about this. Would it have been a better example if he had eaten the organ? Snowcap wanted to be like these wolves, but he also wanted to respect his ancestors. It was a puzzling predicament, but he shunned the decision for now.
Snowcap licked his bloodstained forepaws, then returned his attention to Tsuki.
"Where did you come from?"

Nootau stepped foward to nibble at the mooses' throat again. He was very full, but the wolf he was made it so he really wanted as much of this animal inside him as he could possible get. He had scowled when Snow did away with the perfectly good, maybe even still slightly pulsating heart. He tried not to scowl but he couldn't help it. He just had to tell Snow the truth. It would be tough but it had to be let known. Later though, later, when everyone was rested.

Tsuki tugged at Snowcaps ear playfully.
"You shouldnt be forced into our ways. Your the alpha. You make the decisions. I find your ways interesting and a change. I like changes. Just like summer turns to winter and how the leafs change from green to red."
She licked Snowcaps muzzle then raised her head to look at the skies.
"As for me, theres not alot. I was born into a pack a bit bigger than this one who lived a bit furthur north than this. Just before the forest turns into frozen plains. My parents were alphas so naturally they believed i would be the next female aplha when my mother passed on. Life seemed great, until the whirring birds came."
Tsuki glanced at Snowcap.
"They were terrible Snowcap. Theyd chase us through the forest for hours on end until our lungs would not let us breath anymore. Then there would be a terrible sound, lounder than thunder and one of my comrades would drop down dead. Its hard to explain. After this happened, my pack believed that it was my fault that the whirring birds killed my comrades. Ive been travelling ever since. A loner."
She placed her head on top of her paws.

Snowcap's pupils became slits, surrounded by the dark silver irises. He was trying to understand what these "whirring birds" could be, and what powers they possessed to kill a wolf in a mere second. His brow wrinkled in thought, clearly confused.
"I came from the north as well," he said to Tsuki, "but I have never heard of these 'whirring birds'. At all costs we must avoid them." His tail twitched in agitation. "I am sorry about your family," he added.
Snowcap shifted his position so that he was lying on his side facing Tsuki. She was a kind wolf, and plainly thought that the white male was a good choice for Alpha. Snowcap nuzzled her cheek, then lay his head on his paws. His silver eyes wandered, and he caught Nootau's glance. Something about him seemed unapproving. Snowcap knew that he would have to talk to him soon.
