Nootau walked close behind Snowcap, silent and deep in thought, long legs peddling automatically, grasping the next step, tail at rest without emotion. He looks over his shoulder at the others, poker faced, and moves on.

Snowcap walked quickly with confident steps, his senses keen on finding a suitable territory. Every few miles he would stop to sniff the air and twitch his ears, looking for other wolves or plentiful prey. Though his pack was strong, he would try to avoid other packs at all costs. This wasn't the time to pick fights.
As he walked up a steep hillside, a sudden enthusiasm entered the white wolf. He barked and wagged his tail slightly, looking expectantly at his packmates. He loped up the hill, wind buffeting his fur in a melee of snow-like strands. The wolf's eyes were bright gold, shimmering in the sunlight.
Finally, Snowcap reached the top of the hill. What he found was startling, yet brilliant. Below him, a huge valley stretched, lit by the golden sun. There were fields, forests, and rivers flowing from distant mountains. The rolling landscape offered plenty of vegetation and habitat for many creatures, including deer, moose, rabbit, and elk. Snowcap wanted this to be their territory, but first they must inspect the land, checking for sickness or disease within the plants, making sure their prey was plentiful, and their water supply would not run out.
The Alpha howled dominantly, hoping that no answering call echoed from the bordering mountains as a challenge. If other wolves were here, they would have to move out.

Tsuki ran up the hill after Snowcap. She was filled with this huge amount of energy. When she reached the crest of the hill and looked down, the site took her breath away. The valley was beautiful.
"Its like it was made just for us. Its beautiful"
She turned to Snowcap and wagged her tail. She then looked behind her and called to the others.
"Come and see. Its beautful!"
She howled out in her excitement.

Nootau shook out his coat, then sighed, grinning. "It's good. We aren't officially a pac yet. We ought to get down and sniff out a name." He looks again over the vast land, the bright greens dull to his wolf eyes, but the quality of it clear.

Kanti trotted up the hill and by the time she reached the top, she was panting. Standing next to Tsuki, the silver she wolf glanced around while trying to catch her breath at the same time. Tsuki was right, the view was amazing. A howl escaped Kanti and she stood wagging her tail as she looked down at the valley.

Anthoro trotted up behind the rest of the wolves. He peered around them, and he gasped. The landscape below seemed to be a dream. It looked peerfect for them, but he had to agree with Snowcap. If there was sickness here, they would have to move on and keep looking, but this place excited him none the less.

Snowcap surveyed the valley for a moment longer, testing the air and swiveling his ears as if to test the territory's soundness. Nothing smelled suspicious, and no howl answered them.
"Yes, Nootau," he said, "We must explore the valley to see if it is to our standards, and declare a name for our pack. I say we split up. Anthoro, and Inaya, please come with me. Kanti and Tsuki, you will go with Nootau." Snowcap faced his Beta. "I'll take the eastern border and circle around; you take the western edge. We'll meet at that central grey area near the river. It looks like a rock formation to me, and perhaps it will supply us with caves." Snowcap turned to his comrades, wagging his tail slightly. He felt that this must be the right place for them.
"Let's away!" he said loudly, nodding to Inaya and Anthoro, motioning them to follow him. He led the way down the hill, taking care to go slowly and cautiously.

Nootau nods silently and his tail twitches upwards, preparing to lead Kanti and Tsuki west. He paid little attention to them as he trod, expecting them to say something first if anything was to be said at all. His olfactories absorb his trail, and he yawns.

Anthoro nods. He moves to follow Snowcap, looking to Inaya to see if she was following. He took another look around the valley. He wags his tail, and continues down the slope, glad to be on the move again.

Tsuki stared after snowcap. She wasnt pleased that she had been teamed up with Nootau. She felt that he disliked her for some reason. Was it just the colour of her fur? Well now wasnt the time for arguing. She nodded to Kanti and glanced at Nootau. Her tail came up and she stuck her nose in the air. There were no dangers, but its better to be save.
"Please dont get into any trouble Snowcap" she thought as she followed Nootau to the west.

Snowcap continued down the slope, stepping carefully over various stones and roots. The hill flatened into a broad plain on the border of a large forest. Trees swayed in the breeze their branches creaking as they brushed each other. They looked beautiful in their flashy leaves. The grass looked like a sea of gold, their stalks waving to and fro. The air was warm, with sundry scents carried by the meandering winds.
Pausing, Snowcap looked back to see if his wolves were following. He nodded at Anthoro and Inaya, the continued on his way, making for an opening in the dense forest.
"What do you think of it, Anthoro?"

Anthoro turned at the sound of his name. He grinned.
"I think it'd wonderful, it's perfect! It feels just right for a pack. I hope there's nothing wrong here, it would be great the have this as our territory." he said, his heart feeling light as a feather.
He coursed down the slope of the hill, waiting for the others. Sitting still was killing him. He was itching to be out and sniffing about. He had forgotten his weakness as his excitement filled his body. His ears were alert, listening to the forest's sounds. As happy as he was, he couldn't forget to be careful. They didn't know this land yet. He watched the clouds float above, marvelling at the beatiful day. He looked up the hill expectantly at Snowcap and Inaya, smiling.

"I'm glad," replied Snowcap lightheartedly. The white wolf moved swiftly towards the forest, cutting through the golden grasses. The looming trees grew larger as he approached, and the leaves rustled as small creatures skittered about on the forest floor. The tall oaks were thick and strong, the pines aromatic and protective. The wood smelled damp and full of life; just how it should smell.
Once beneath the branches it became darker and cooler. Snowcap liked the adjustment, and his eyes darked while his pupils grew large, almost catlike.
"We'll inspect the forest's eastern edge, and then find out what's beyond. I would like to take a look at the river as well before our rondez-vous with Nootau."

Some time after the fork in the path, the black wolf still hadn't eaten. What is it now? Two months I think since my last decent meal...It was getting to much, his muscles deteriorating so fast, he could almost feel it. It sure would be a lot easier to find some damn food if my sense of smell wasn't fucked up. The dense forest that the black wolf was heading through was beginning to thin out. The black wolf picked up his pace, if there is a meadow ahead, perhaps there will be something to eat. When the black wolf emerged from the trees, all he could see was a drop. It was a small cliff, fifteen feet at most. Growing near the edge of the cliff was a berry-growing bush. His mind went blank, thinking only about the food. Trotting over to the bush, the black wolf begins eating berries from the bush by mouthfuls.
After about two mouthfuls, a crack pierces the air, and the earth underneath the black wolf begins sliding. Scrambling, he helplessly tries to jump away from the collapsing cliff, but is too late. As he falls down the cliff, he spots a small ledge protruding from the face of the cliff, composed to two rocks with a small hole in between. He aims himself to land on the rock, and is somewhat successful. His right paw was on the ledge, but the rest of him was still falling, and his right paw became wedged in the small hole in between the two rocks, causing him to swing towards the rock wall. Everything goes into slow motion, as his right paw bends in a way it is not supposed to bend. Then, it happens, the sound-deafening crack of a bone. He continues to swing into the wall, dislocating his shoulder, and then slams the right side of his body into the wall. The contact between the rock wall and the right side of his head causes the long scar, running down his eye, to split open.
Dangling from the ledge, he twists his body and unwedges himself. He falls to the ground, landing on the sharp debris, bruising up the left side of his body. He continuously tries to get up, but fails with every attempt.

[Changed in Ash's post 3 weeks to 2 months, wolves can go lots longer without food. Hi Ash. ]
Nootau padded along the border of the territory, and paused, perhaps wondering if the wolves behind were paying enough attention to stop also. His stomach lurched with a dull pain, brought on by his anxiety. He shakes his head, ears with their familiar flap together. He wants to step aside to urinate, but he dutifully decided to watch his pack-mates. Also, he could save that for marking the territory. Nootau turns around, staring back to the wolves behind him.
